Grandma Georgia

A Note from Our Founder

Georgia aka “Mama” was a woman of many talents. She was strong and had a sharp mind even though she was only educated through grade school. In the face of uncertainty, she always found a way. Anytime I would visit her house, her open arms welcomed me with a hug, a warm meal and a heaping dose of truth, wrapped in love. I knew I was safe with her. That’s our goal at Georgia’s House — to give you a safe space to recover and regroup while planning next steps for your future.

Mama lived a lot of life and was no stranger to relational violence. In my adulthood I experienced domestic violence firsthand and was not aware of the resources available to me to help me leave the relationship. My hope is, as I walk alongside other women on their journeys, they too will find the courage and strength to leave their unhealthy relationships. By using Mama’s name, it is my desire that the work I do will bring honor to her life.
